WESTERN FOOD PROCESSOR MAGAZINE COVERS THE ISSUES THAT ARE DRIVING TODAY’S FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY

Over the last decade and more, western Canada’s food processing industry has made tremendous strides in increasing its output capacity. Today, food processing in the West is valued at close to $25 billion and is projected to continue its growth path as
provincial governments implement programs to encourage further economic development and consumers seek local products from their grocery stores. Moreover, private entrepreneurs have been very successful at filling new emerging niches in the market with innovative products that national or multi-national food companies have been slow to exploit.

To cater to this large and now mature market, Mercury Publications is introducing Western Food Processor — the magazine devoted to covering the issues facing food processors in the West. Mercury Publications specializes in the food, beverage and hospitality industries with titles such as Western Grocer Magazine, Western Restaurant News, Western Hotelier,
Eastern Hotelier, Bar & Beverage and C-Store Canada. Western Food Processor is a natural extension of our coverage of the food industry.

Published quarterly, Western Food Processor will be circulated to food processing companies, food scientists, related government departments, equipment and ingredient companies, packaging companies and wholesalers/ distributors. Focused on management personnel, distribution will include plant managers and administrative personnel.
Topics covered will include safety, packaging innovations, equipment news, marketing, industry news, new products, government regulations, manufacturing trends and industry profiles. Western Food Processor is intended to give a voice to the growing number of food processors in the West and the issues and concerns that motivate their daily lives. We will be
working with the provincial Food Processors Associations.
